A relatively small group of unruly fans celebrating the
Lakers Championship got out of hand in the vicinity around Staples Center in Downtown L.A.
LAPD Chief
Bratton called them "knuckleheads". I saw the mob target cabs, metro buses, and loot a gas station convenience store, as well as throw bottles and trash cans. I thought the
LAPD was restrained and handled it professionally in a potentially volatile situation.
It's really sad that a small mob of people take advantage of a such a happy occasion and act like maniacs and destroy property.
