Migrating Whale Detours to Marina Del Rey

A young 15 ft California Gray Whale has been hanging around the entrance Marina Del Rey, taking a break from migrating to Alaska. I got there late this evening and it got dark so this is the only shot I have , planning on going back tomorrow to try again. It's mostly underwater, but surfaces every minute or so to breathe. Local whale expert and marine wildlife rescuer Peter Wallerstein was has stated there seems to be nothing wrong with the whale, it's just enjoying some good eating in the shallow water and rubbing some barnacles off it's belly. It's a rare chance to get up close and hear the amazing whale sounds as it dives. Kevin at LA Observed has a nice write up about it here
