If you've never been to the Owens Valley in California, do yourself a favor and go check it out. I had the opportunity to spend a few days there for this NY Times travel story. The majestic mountains including Mt Whitney, the tallest peak in the lower 48 and the other worldly rock formations in the Alabama Hills and Owens Valley Gorge made for an amazing weekend and a feast for the eyes.
