Last Call At Hollywood Park

 Hollywood Park's official bugler, Jay Cohen, calls horses to the track on Saturday, December 21. The race track closed down forever this weekend after 75 years  and will become a mixed housing/retail development 

California Sunsets

People watch the setting sun from a perch near the Venice Beach breakwater. Southern California has been experiencing sensational sunsets this past week. According to Stuart Seto of the National Weather Service in Oxnard, the combination of clouds, smoke and dust whirling around from strong winds gives the sun lots of extra things to reflect off, according to  a report this week from the LA Times. ©Jonathan Alcorn
